no worries, jyri! i also wanted to say another view point is jaiku feels community-based, whereas twitter is currently geared toward direct social networking. i don't know much about where either are going, but i do appreciate the feel and functionality of jaiku. i hope this helps your friend, JanneW.

re: jaiku/twitter. I just came across jaiku recently and have a twitter account (different name) and have been attempting to explain some of the differences to friends. How about this: I think of Jaiku as a public library where you might sit and read your favourite newspapers (RSS) whilst friends and friendly people are not too far away. You can hear their small talk, but it doesn't interfere with what you are doing, unless you want it too. Comments are not limited to 140 characters, so you are able to carry on a detailed message, should you need. Follow conversations in-line. People are here to read, think, twitter, and you can even have your twitter RSS'd over if you'd like. So have the best of both worlds? The icons and ability to add RSS photo feeds are a bonus. It's has a slower paced feel, yet it accomplishes the same as twitter, plus more. Hope this helps! Enjoy your travels.
